Devotions

Each day, students will be led in morning and evening devotions.  Each morning, a small devotion will be given, and students will break up into small groups to discuss the topic and pray for one another.  Evening devotions will be an in depth study designed to challenge students to become more like Christ, devoted to Him in every aspect of life.

Meals

All meals will be made under the supervision of dorm chaperones.  Breakfast will be made and eaten in the Emerson lobby, giving students a wide variety of choices from cereal to fruit and muffins.  Each student will be responsible to make their own sack lunch for the day, given choices of sandwich fixings, as well as various side choices.  Dinners will be home-made by the camp moms in order to give each student a well-balanced choice of food.  (Special consideration will be made for students with food allergies.  Please make a note of  any allergies on the medical form.)

Dorm Life

All students will be staying in Emerson Hall during the summer music camp.  Located at the top of the Westmont campus, Emerson offers a beautiful view of the Santa Barbara Channel Islands.  This two-story building features four split-level living areas with community bathrooms located in the middle of each level.  Laundry rooms are also available on each level.  Most students will be staying two to a room (a few may have three in the room), and will be matched up randomly based on varying factors.  (Requests may be made for students to room together.)  Guys and girls will be located on separate floors with chaperones assigned to each level.  (Guys and girls will not be allowed to enter each others floors.)  Chaperones have been trained and chosen to provide guidance and direction to all students, offering them a warm and loving “family” atmosphere.  Students will be chaperoned during all daily and evening activities.

Activities

During the two weeks, students will be participating in various non-musical and musical activities, both on and off the Westmont campus.  Activities may include, team games, beach day, ministry concerts, and more.  Each activity will be supervised and is mandatory for each participant.  Students will be driven to off-campus activities by chaperones.

Concert and Ministry Opportunities

At the YMO Summer Music Camp, students will be given the unique opportunity to not only learn great music, but also use this music to share God’s love with those around them.  Throughout the two weeks, we will be performing a variety of concerts for church services, retirement homes, and other community events around the Santa Barbara area.  The camp will conclude with a final concert open to family friends and community members on Saturday, July 19, at 2:00 PM.
