Aural Theory 1– Students will learn the basics of interval recognition through melodic dictation, and will learn tricks to identify intervals in music. Students will also learn basic rhythmic dictation and sight singing.
Written Theory 1 – It’s back to the basics! In written theory 1, students will learn some of the basics of written theory, including time and key signature, intervals, scales, and clef recognition. They will also learn basic chord recognition and analysis.
Aural Theory 2 – Students in advanced theory will work to be able to recognize and sing intervals, sight sing melodies, and take basic rhythm and melodic dictation.
Written Theory 2 – In written theory 2, students learn the construction of major, minor and seventh chords, major and minor scales, and different cadences. Students in this theory will also be given the opportunity to compose or arrange basic songs, and analyze hymns. |
