Beginning Band offers a fun and encouraging environment for new musicians. Students learn the basics of playing a musical instrument and gain a firm foundation in basic music theory, including note and rhythm recognition. Assistance is available to help students choose the instrument that is right for them. At the end of each semester, students will come together with other ensembles in a concert.

Requirements
All students must purchase or rent an instrument by the first rehearsal. Suggested instruments include: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone and Percussion.
Instrument Packet $5
Rhythm Workout Book $15
Each student should practice at least five days a week, thirty minutes a day.
Students should take weekly private lessons. (A list of suggested private instructors will be provided on first day of rehearsal).
All percussionists must purchase drum pad and bell kit.
Students required to be present for sectionals once a week to practice.
Students are expected to participate in all rehearsals, concerts and fundraisers.
